The Super Solar project aims at helping in the creation of a just future in light of the dire forces of energy depletion and climate change. As such, the project strives to sustainably transform public infrastructure to rely on solar energy. This, I believe, is of critical importance in reducing energy poverty that afflicts the lives of underserved communities, whose energy needs are often overlooked.
To achieve this, the project works with a two-pronged approach: firstly, sourcing financial resources through targeted fundraising initiatives to fund the installation of solar panels on buildings of public importance such as government-run schools, and secondly, generating awareness among students on the urgency of adapting to sustainable energy. Moreover, the project utilizes the creation of an original curriculum to help students explore the transformative potential of using energy. The project also facilitates expert-led sessions, interactive workshops, community mobilization through setting-up solar care committees within schools, and trained committees equipped to maintain and ensure the successful running of solar facilities.
